How does the HortiFootprint Calculator measure environmental impact?
he HortiFootprint Calculator is an innovative software tool based on the FloriPEFCR, an internationally agreed method for calculating the environmental footprint of horticultural products.
This FloriPEFCR standard is a Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) that includes 16 impact categories (such as carbon footprint, land use, and the use of natural resources) and covers the entire life cycle of ornamental and vegetable production, up to the final product. It was developed by Wageningen University in collaboration with MPS and many other organizations active in the sector.
The software tool measures the full environmental impact using all 16 impact categories from the FloriPEFCR.
